Dedicated to preserving the story of cattle ranching from the 1850s onwards, Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site is a real working ranch that features both modern and historic buildings and equipment. Tour the historic ranch buildings after picking up an explanatory map from the visitor center or stroll along some of the gentle trails that lead out from the main ranch site. Year-round there are a variety of special activities and events for guests to take part in, including wagon rides, talks by cowboys about ranching life and blacksmithing demonstrations. Guided tours of the main ranch house take place daily and offer a look into the ways of life for 19th century ranching families. The site is located at the town of Deer Lodge, just east of Deerlodge National Forest in western Montana.
